Playing Catch Up

Well hi there friends!

Long time no blog.

I guess it’s time to tell you what I’ve been up to the past few days.

Here goes nothin’.

I’ve been racing…

Saturday was the second official race of the 30 Before 30!

I ran the Smithtown 5K Running Of The Bull In Honor Of Courtney Sipes.

The husband wasn’t signed up for this race, but he came to support me.  (Such a sweetie pie)

While he cheered me on, he took a photo of this guy (he looks like Snape!)

Tell me he doesn’t!

Sidenote:  This guy apparently finished 5th in under 20 minutes.  I did not expect that!

I ended up finishing in 37:36 – 23 seconds faster than my race last week!

I am very happy with that considering I had only ran once, and had been smoking all week.  (eeeeeek)

The first mile actually felt great, and I thought I would beat my time by a few minutes.  

When I got to the second mile, however, my legs really started to hurt and I was finding it very difficult to breathe.

But I almost threw up after I crossed the finish line finished strong, and was pleased with my results.

My next race is in two weeks.  I can’t wait!

I’ve been in the kitchen…

Believe it or not, these were brownies.

I got a hankering for some on Friday night, and unfortuntely ended up following what is possibly the worst brownie recipe ever.

I was going to post the site that I got the recipe from, but I decided against it.

Why am I so nice?

Seriously, these were gross. 

They tasted like cardboard.

We threw them out.

The following day, the husband demanded that I redeem myself and make better brownies.

seriously where do people come up with this stuff? lolol

I happily obliged.

The next batch came out FANfreakingTASTIC.

So good, in fact, that they warranted me running to the store and buying cute little glass display cases for them.

Another yummy thing I did in the kitchen was cook up some roasted potatoes

(Recipe coming soon – so simple, btw)

I’ve been organizing…

Our pantry finally got to me. 

Every time I opened it, I almost had a panic attack.

While I was out getting the miniature cake stands, I picked up two cabinet organizers.

Well, to be honest, I stupidly only got one and had to go back out for the other.

The husband put them together, as I removed/organized everything from the pantry…

As any good engineer does, he got angry at the “shitty design” and cursed for a little while….

And finally….

I can breathe a sign of relief.

:)

Every time I open this I get SO HAPPY. 

It’s pathetic.

 I’ve done strength training…

That’s right, folks.

I finally got my lazy ass up this morning and went to the gym before work.

I busted out this little ditty I wrote up the other day:

  • 5 minute warm-up walk

Ciruit 1 (repeat twice w/ no break)

  • Step Ups (15/side)
  • Bent over rows (12/side)
  • Diagonal lunges (10/side)
  • Bicep curls (12/side)

2 minute “break” – walk on 15 incline at a slightly uncomfortable speed

Circuit 2 (repeat twice w/ no break)

  • Dumbell deadlift (12-15)
  • Plie squat with weight (15)
  • French press (15)
  • Swing/press (10/side)

2 minute “break” – walk on 15 incline at a slightly uncomfortable speed

Circuit 3 (repeat twice w/ no break)

  •  Side/front raises (12)
  • Pushups (10-15) **I do mine on a bench bar because I am not strong enough to do them normally, and also it is less painful for my wrists
  • Shoulder press (12)
  • Tricep pushdowns w/ rope (15)

Run 1 mile (**I didn’t do this today, as I am running tonight)

Plank 20 seconds (3x)

Roman twists (50)

Stretch

And last, but certainly not least, I’ve been not smoking…

Woo hoo!
